Happy March!!!
Let's just jump right into it! Last time I blogged around mid February, I mentioned my weight being 251.5lbs. I have since weighed myself twice. On February 19, I weighed in at 247.9lbs. And then on February 26, I weighed in at 246.3.
I'll be real, that weight loss is not much in my mind, considering my weight has always really seemed to fluctuate by a few pounds. But, because I've been actively recording my food intake with the Lose It app, I do feel that being consistent has likely helped play a part in losing a few pounds already. I have found, that while I still do have occasional cravings for junk food, I have generally been good about staying on track, specifically with watching my portion sizes, staying within my calorie count, and chosing healthier snacks, over unhealthy snacks. (Fortunately, in terms of the snacks, I've also been doing good about not keeping things like Swiss Cake Rolls, or Swedish Fish around! Those are two of my biggest food downfalls.) As for what types of healthy snacks I've been keeping around the house - beef jerky, cucumbers, apples, pumpkin seeds, and chips and salsa, are among them. I've also been sticking to drinking a cup of fiber in the mornings, and that certainly seems to help keep me satiated throughout the day (including in the evenings when I'm feeling most snacky)! Another thing that has helped me this time around too, is having my Mom & G, both help hold me accountable (I've been doing the same for them as well). We have just been checking in with each other throughout the week, as well as cheering each other on! It's been motivating. Finally, I started going out for walks again last week. While we're still basically in the dead of winter, the weather has been quite a bit nicer, giving me more motivation to get outside. :) I walked only twice last week, but it's a start! And now that the snow has mostly metled away, I'll feel a lot more comfortable and confident walking on trails, with less chance of slipping. (That's alway important!) Hopefully I'll get out for at least 3 walks this week. Anywho, enough about weightloss... let's talk about other things!
I just finished my book for February, and picked out a new book for March, this morning. I kind of hemmed and hawed over what book I wanted to read. I knew that I wanted to read a book that I already owned, which I had tried reading before and gave up on. To be frank, I own many books like that- but finally decided on one: the updated edition of Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. And I'll be honest, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I own any Anthony Bourdain books, that I haven't finished, as he was always such a huge inspiration to me. I've started Kitchen Confidential a few times before, but have always just ended up distracted, and just not completing it. :( But, the time is right, so I'm gonna give it a go, and finsih it this time! There are about 30 sections/chapters in this book. So, even if I only read one chapter per day in March, I'll still finish it on time! I'm looking forward to it, as I remember it being highly entertaining, last time I read some of it.
Another hobby I've been working on this year, is practicing the Indonesian language on the Duoling app. I am on a 45 day streak of practicing everyday! That's a big deal for me, as I tend to struggle with following through on thing (as you've seen with books). Anywho, anyone who knows me knows I love travel and experiencing new cultures, foods and activities. I have been wanting to travel to Bali for a few years now, and seeing as we likely won't be traveling internationally anytime soon, I figured what better time than now, to learn Indonesian. This way, when the time does finally come to travel freely again, I will be well prepared to interact with the Balinese people, in their native language. I'm really looking forward to that day. Hell, I'm really looking forward to any sort of travel, to be honest!
I have been thinking about roadtripping and camping, non-stop lately. I see Colorado, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Tennessee and West Virginia on my domestic travel horizon (only if it can be done safely, of course)! And, no need to come for me here! I certainly wouldn't travel anywhere where I'd be putting myself or others in harm's way. I'm really only daydreaming at this point (but boy, are my daydreams detailed and picturesque!). I'm longing for a sense of adventure and excitement. I never dreamed as a child that I would find those things by traveling domestically in my home country. But after a few years of travel to states, I had either never before been to, or had never been to as an adult, I realized that the United States offers some of the most breathtaking landscapes, along with some of the most diverse cultures from region to region. All of the aforementioned states vary dramatically from my home state, offering their own unique customs, landscapes and feel! I'm looking forward to, once again, have the chance to visit these states, along with others once it's safe. But until then, the daydreaming shall continue.
Lastly, I feel as if I see a small glimmering speck of light at the end of the COVID tunnel. I am feeling better as more people receive the vaccine and more numbers continue to decrease. I'll be ecstatic on the day when I can finally get my own vaccine! This season in life has really made my recognize my love and passion for family and time spent together. That time certainly can't be replaced! And, I hope that anyone viewing my blog (beyond myself), is also feeling a bit more confident about the future.
Lots of love to you and yours. Brighter days, are heading our way! <3
